The Interdisciplinary HIV Pregnancy Research Group (IHPREG) is a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Emerging Team Grant recipient in Maternal Health. Our research targets women infected and affected by HIV (WIAHIV) and proposes an integrated research, education, mentoring, and knowledge translation and exchange (KTE) program to undertake policy-relevant research regarding the care of HIV-positive women and HIV-negative women with HIV-positive male partners during pre-conception, pregnancy and parenthood in Ontario.
Specific Objectives Include:
- Carry out high quality clinical, health sciences, and basic scientific evaluations of WIAHIV through pre-conception, pregnancy and parenthood,
- Enable collaboration of stakeholders in various disciplines focusing on maternal health and HIV by allowing for cohesive enrolment of this small population of women across Ontario
- Assist in the training and mentoring of new researchers, and
- Disseminate research findings to improve current practice for maternal health care of HIV-positive women.
